New tools continue to make decision analysis techniques more accessible. Monte Carlo simulation is perhaps the most popular of the management science techniques.
Definitive Software, Inc. has developed "Scenario"™, a general tool for Monte Carlo simulation. This is a standalone modeling tool. It interfaces to Excel for exporting results, but not for linking to Excel models.
Notably, scenario uses an influence diagram as the modeling interface. This graphical map shows the logical relationships linking model elements. Thus, models are more self-documenting.
